April 14thUntil the 19thZhang Jian, former member of the Standing Committee, Secretary General, and Minister of Propaganda of Weihai Municipal Committee, and President of the Municipal Boutique Tourism Promotion Association, led some vice presidents and director of the Marine Tourism Special Committee to visit Hainan together with former director of the Propaganda and Education Center of the State Oceanic Administration, Gai Guangsheng, to investigate the development of the marine tourism industry.

At the International Yacht Center in the Central Business District of Sanya, Zhang Jian and his delegation listened to the basic introduction, visited the yacht dock and exhibition hall, and deeply felt the rapid development of Hainan's yacht tourism industry. The Sanya International Yacht Center is a pilot zone for the reform, development, and innovation of the yacht industry established for the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port. It is in line with the highest level of openness in the world's yacht industry and has been built into an international commercial complex that integrates yacht and surrounding product display, trading, service, office, training, design, research and development, culture, art, and many other formats. The total construction area is 48902 square meters, with three main buildings named Hall 1, Hall 2, and Hall 3. Construction began in October 2021 and trial operation began in December 2023. The maritime departments at all levels in Hainan Province have liberated their minds and taken development as their responsibility. Last year alone, they approved the registration of 230 yachts, and the total number of registered yachts in Sanya City reached 1367. At present, yacht tourism has become one of the essential entertainment items on the tourist list in Sanya. Last year, the number of yachts set sail in the city reached 161100, receiving 1.079 million tourists, an increase of 67.22% and 82.84% year-on-year, respectively. They pioneered the development and regulatory system of maritime tourism industry in the country, formulated a series of normative documents such as the "Measures for Promoting and Managing Water Tourism Projects", "Sanya Yacht Industry High Quality Service Standards", and "Sanya Yacht Tourism Service Standards", and planned to make the International Yacht Center a world-class yacht display window, a domestic yacht brand overseas center, a vibrant urban reception hall, and a globally leading yacht cultural center. They are accelerating their development towards digitization, standardization, intensification, chain, and internationalization, with a very broad prospect.
Wuzhizhou Island in Sanya City and Jiezhou Island in Lingshui County are both 5A level scenic spots. Wuzhizhou Island covers an area of 1.48 square kilometers and is a tourism complex that integrates vacation tourism services, hotels, catering, sea transportation, sea entertainment projects, diving, land sightseeing, and other business formats. The island is rich in natural resources, with beautiful and varied landforms, high ornamental value, complete tourism facilities, and many entertainment tourism projects, which have won the favor and praise of domestic and foreign tourists. Last year, it received more than 3.3 million tourists. Fenjiezhou Island covers an area of 0.45 square kilometers and was originally a deserted island overgrown with weeds. In May 2002, on the basis of protecting the original vegetation, various ancient and large trees were planted, and various forms of tourism projects were constructed. It has become a beautiful underwater scenic spot with lush vegetation, clear and transparent seawater, beautiful ecological environment, and a wide range of amusement and sightseeing projects. Especially here, the high visibility of seawater, the colorful underwater environment, coral and seaweed, and other various marine creatures, constitute a beautiful underwater picture, most suitable for diving sports. Last year, the scenic area received 1.87 million tourists; The PADI Diving Center at Fenjiezhou receives 1200 professional divers and over 8000 diving coaches and club colleagues.
The Haikou International Yacht Exhibition is one of the key exhibition areas of the 4th China International Consumer Goods Expo, with a rich display content. It not only gathers 250 luxury yachts from multiple countries and regions such as the UK, Finland, Poland, France, and the United States, but also adds exhibits and activities such as RVs and camping equipment, luxury cars, new energy vehicles, food, and water sports equipment, presenting a consumption scene of "yacht+outdoor life+tourism", highlighting the huge potential of Chinese yacht consumption. At the Shandong Exhibition Hall, various fishing gear and marine treasures from enterprises such as Weihai Koni Fishing Gear Co., Ltd., Shandong Chuangwei Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., and Weihai Yutong Trading Co., Ltd. are showcased in Hainan, attracting numerous customers.
At the Hainan office area of the China Association for the Promotion of International Economic and Technological Cooperation, Zhang Jian and his delegation had friendly discussions with the association's consultant Zhang Xiyu and Vice General Manager Liu Peixin of Hainan Marine Industry Group Co., Ltd. They exchanged their advantages in tourism and other resources and expressed their intention to strengthen communication and cooperation.
Through investigation, everyone unanimously feels that they have broadened their horizons, learned experience, and gained a lot. Although the development momentum of our city's marine tourism industry is good, there are still shortcomings compared to Hainan, especially the large gap in marine tourism such as yachts and sailboats, and the lack of diving projects. More importantly, the relevant departments have insufficient ideological liberation and support. We should learn from Hainan seriously, be brave and responsible, and sincerely serve the development of Weihai's marine tourism industry. We should guide and support marine tourism enterprises to continuously increase their projects, expand their scale, and improve their level, and promote the faster and better development of the city's marine tourism industry.
