Director Of The Africa Department Of The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Wu Peng Attends The Reception For The Commemorative Day Of The Southern African Development Community

On September 9, 2022, Wu Peng, Director of the Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was invited to attend the reception for the commemorative day of the Southern African Development Community.

Director Wu Peng said in his speech that SADC is one of the most dynamic and influential sub regional organizations in Africa and has played an important role in maintaining peace and stability in the region, responding to the COVID-19 in solidarity and promoting economic recovery of regional countries in recent years. China has always regarded Africa as an equal and mutually beneficial cooperative partner, optimistic about its development prospects, and is willing to work with a large number of African countries, including SADC countries, to strengthen unity and cooperation, deepen practical cooperation, and work together to build a community with a shared future for China and Africa in the new era.

In his speech, the outgoing Chairman of SADC, Malawi Ambassador to China Chin Taeza, said that SADC has always adhered to the one China principle, thanked China for its long-term contribution to the socio-economic development of countries in the region, and was willing to strengthen cooperation in various fields with China under the framework of jointly building the "the Belt and Road" and the Forum on China Africa Cooperation, seek common development and jointly address various challenges.
