Li Qiang Meets With President Talon Of Benin

On the morning of September 1, 2023, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met with President Talon of Benin, who is on a state visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People.

Li Qiang stated that Benin is an important partner of China in Western Africa. Both sides have always been sincere and friendly, and their relations have become a model of mutual respect and equal treatment among developing countries. I believe that under the strategic guidance and promotion of President * * * and Mr. President, China Belgium relations will reach a new level, and friendly cooperation in various fields will bear even more fruitful fruits.

Li Qiang pointed out that China will continue to firmly support Benin in pursuing a development path that is in line with its national conditions, supporting Benin in safeguarding national sovereignty and maintaining domestic stability and development. The Chinese side is willing to deepen the docking of economic and social development strategies with the Malaysian side, combine the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" initiative and the implementation of the "nine projects" of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation, accelerate the implementation of key projects, steadily expand cooperation in infrastructure, oil and gas development, digital information, industrial parks and other fields, expand people to people and cultural exchanges, and better achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. China supports and encourages Chinese enterprises with conditions to invest and develop in Benin, promoting its industrialization and agricultural modernization, and helping Benin continue to grow its endogenous driving force for development. China is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Benin, practice true multilateralism, oppose unilateralism and bullying, and defend the common interests of developing countries and international fairness and justice.

Talon stated that China is a long-term friendly partner of Benin, and the cooperation between the two countries has achieved fruitful results. China has set a development example for Benin and African countries, bringing hope and confidence to Africa. Sincerely thank China for its brotherly support and assistance to Benin and African countries over the long term. Benin is willing to learn from China's development experience, deepen cooperation in industries, agriculture, investment, education, and other fields, promote the continuous development of Beijing-China relations, and build a community with a shared future for both countries.
