Xi Jinping Meeting With Vice President Shetima Of Nigeria
On the afternoon of October 18, 2023, President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China met in the Great Hall of the People with Nigerian Vice President Shatima, who came to China to attend the Third the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
Xi Jinping pointed out that this year marks the 10th anniversary of my proposal to jointly build the "the Belt and Road" initiative, as well as the 10th anniversary of my proposal to put forward the policy concept of "sincerity, affinity and sincerity" towards Africa. In the past 10 years, the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" between China and Africa has shown great vitality, and a large number of landmark projects have been completed. The cooperation between China and Nepal in jointly building the "the Belt and Road" is full of highlights. A large number of cooperation projects, such as railways, ports, power stations, and communication backbone networks, have been completed, and the construction of free trade zones has achieved remarkable results. China is willing to continue to work with Nigeria to promote more tangible results of China Nigeria and China Africa cooperation in jointly building the "the Belt and Road" and help Nigeria and Africa achieve industrialization and agricultural modernization.
Xi Jinping emphasized that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal for over half a century, the two countries have always adhered to mutual respect and mutual benefit. Faced with a world of turmoil and interweaving, China and Nepal need to strengthen unity and cooperation more than ever before. China supports Nigeria in pursuing a modernization path that is in line with its national conditions, and is willing to strengthen personnel exchanges at all levels with Nigeria to promote high-quality practical cooperation. China supports Nigeria to play a greater role in international and regional affairs, and is willing to strengthen strategic coordination with Nigeria, promote democratization of international relations, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries.
Shetima expressed congratulations on the successful hosting of the third the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Nigeria and China are good friends who share weal and woe and help each other. China has always respected and treated African countries such as Nigeria equally, never giving orders and doing its best to support the African people in their pursuit of independence and development. Thank you to the Chinese side for proposing a series of important global cooperation initiatives for developing countries and providing valuable assistance for Nigeria's development, helping Nigeria and Africa's industrialization process. Nigeria attaches great importance to the development of relations with China, unswervingly pursues the one China policy, and is firmly committed to the high level development of Nigeria China relations. It is willing to continue to deepen cooperation with China in jointly building the "the Belt and Road" to raise Nigeria China relations to a new level.
