Egyptian President Sesi Meets With Wang Yi

On January 14, 2024 local time, Egyptian President Sisi met with visiting member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi at a Cairo meeting.

Wang Yi first conveyed the warm greetings of President Xi Jinping , stating that the two heads of state have established solid mutual trust and profound friendship, which is the strongest strategic guarantee for China Egypt relations. Under the care and guidance of the two heads of state, political mutual trust between China and Egypt has been continuously consolidated, practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results, and major country responsibilities have been demonstrated in international and regional issues. The development of bilateral relations has entered a fast lane and reached the best level. The Chinese side congratulates Mr. President on winning re-election with a high number of votes, which fully demonstrates the support and trust of the Egyptian people. We believe that Egypt will achieve new and greater achievements on the path of national development and national rejuvenation.

Saixi asked Wang Yi to convey his high respect and sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping . He expressed congratulations on China's tremendous development achievements under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and its increasingly important role in international affairs. China is a great country, and no country or force can stop its progress. I would like to reiterate that Egypt will always adhere to the One China principle and oppose interference in China's internal affairs.

Sisi expressed his gratitude to the Chinese side for its strong support for Egypt's economic and social development, and the joint construction of the the Belt and Road between Egypt and China has achieved remarkable results. Egypt attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and China, and is willing to establish a closer partnership with China to expand cooperation in various fields. Thank you to Chinese enterprises for making important contributions to Egypt's national construction and economic development. We welcome more enterprises to invest in Egypt.

Wang Yi expressed gratitude to Egypt for supporting China's legitimate position. China also firmly supports the President's leadership of the Egyptian people on a development path that is in line with its own national conditions, firmly supports Egypt's opposition to foreign interference, safeguarding sovereignty, security, and development interests, firmly supports Egypt's pursuit of an independent and autonomous foreign policy, and plays a more important role in international and regional affairs. China appreciates Egypt's positive response to the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road". In the process of Egypt's development and revitalization, China will be a long-term and reliable strategic partner. China is willing to take this year's 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries as an opportunity to strengthen the docking of their development strategies, promote pragmatic cooperation to achieve greater results, and work together to promote their respective modernization.

Both sides agree to continue strengthening communication and cooperation within frameworks such as the BRICS and the United Nations. Wang Yi expressed that Egypt is a major Arab, African, Islamic, and developing country. He once again congratulated Egypt on becoming a new member of the BRICS countries. China is willing to work with Egypt to promote an equal and orderly world multipolarity and inclusive economic globalization, and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Both sides also exchanged views on the situation between Palestine and Israel, and agreed that a ceasefire and cessation of violence should be implemented as soon as possible to prevent further escalation of the conflict.

On the same day, Wang Yi held talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Shukri and signed the Second Five Year Implementation Outline of the China Egypt Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

During the visit to Egypt, both sides issued a joint statement on the Palestinian issue between China and Egypt.
