Vice Premier Liu Guozhong Visits Cameroon

From January 17th to 18th, 2024 local time, Liu Guozhong, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, led a Chinese government delegation to visit Cameroon at invitation. During the visit, President Biya and Prime Minister Engut respectively met with Liu Guozhong, exchanging in-depth views on China Kazakhstan relations and exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

Liu Guozhong conveyed warm greetings from President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang to the President of Biya and Prime Minister Engut respectively, and positively evaluated Cameroon's development achievements. Liu Guozhong stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kazakhstan 52 years ago, the two countries have always been sincere, friendly, and treated each other equally. The cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results, and the friendly relationship has continued to deepen. China is willing to deepen political mutual trust with Kazakhstan, strengthen development strategy docking, adhere to mutual benefit and win-win, and promote cooperation in various fields. To coordinate and cooperate with each other in international affairs, promote South South cooperation, safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and help build a high-level community with a shared future for China and Africa.

President Biya and Prime Minister Engut respectively requested Vice Premier Liu Guozhong to convey warm greetings to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. Biya expressed that China is a great friend of Cameroon and appreciates the support and assistance provided by China for the development of various undertakings in Cameroon. The Kazakh side firmly adheres to the One China principle, and this policy stance will not change. Engut stated that the friendship between the two countries has a long history and close cooperation. The Kazakh side is willing to further deepen cooperation with China in areas such as politics, economy and trade, infrastructure, culture and tourism, as well as international affairs, to bring more benefits to the people of the two countries and promote the development of bilateral relations to achieve new results.

During the visit, Liu Guozhong also inspected the National Assembly building project for aid to Kazakhstan, accompanied by Speaker Kawaye.
