Ugandan President Museveni Meets With Liu Guozhong

On January 20, 2024, local time, Liu Guozhong, Special Representative of Xi Jinping President, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and Vice Premier of the State Council, met with Ugandan President Museveni at the 19th Summit of the Non Aligned Movement and the 3rd South Summit in Uganda, as requested, to exchange in-depth views on the relationship between China and Ukraine.

Liu Guozhong conveyed Xi Jinping President's warm greetings to President Museveni, congratulating Uganda on successfully hosting the Non Aligned Movement Summit and the South Summit, appreciating Ukraine's contribution to consolidating global southern unity and cooperation, and actively evaluating Uganda's achievements in economic and social development. Liu Guozhong stated that China attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations and is willing to work with Ukraine to promote the implementation of the important consensus of the two heads of state, firmly support each other, tap into the potential for practical cooperation, strengthen communication and coordination in international affairs, and promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Museveni asked Vice Premier Liu Guozhong to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping , welcome Liu Guozhong to lead a Chinese government delegation to attend the Non Aligned Movement Summit and the Southern Summit, and thank China for making important contributions to the successful hosting of the "Twin Peaks". Museveni stated that the destinies of the African and Chinese peoples have always been closely linked, from working together to oppose colonial hegemony and strive for national liberation, to strengthening unity and cooperation, and jointly promoting development and revitalization. Ukraine is willing to work with China to promote traditional friendship, firmly support each other's core interests, expand practical cooperation, and enhance the well-being of the two peoples.
