Vice Premier Liu Guozhong Visits Tanzania

From January 22 to 24, 2024 local time, Liu Guozhong, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, led a Chinese government delegation to visit Tanzania at invitation. During the visit, Tanzanian President Hassan and Prime Minister Majaleva respectively met with Liu Guozhong to exchange in-depth views on China Tanzania relations and practical cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

Liu Guozhong conveyed the warm greetings of President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang to Hassan and Majaleva respectively, and actively evaluated the achievements of Tanzania's economic and social development. Liu Guozhong stated that since November 2022, President Xi Jinping and President Hassan have met twice to jointly draft a blueprint for the development of bilateral relations. China is willing to take the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity, guided by the strategic consensus of the two heads of state, to consolidate traditional friendship, strengthen political mutual trust, deepen exchanges and cooperation, and promote the construction of a community with a shared future between China, Tanzania, and China Africa.

Hassan and Majaliwa respectively asked Liu Guozhong to convey their sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. Hassan stated that close high-level exchanges between Tanzania and China have injected strong impetus into friendly cooperation between the two countries. Tanzania has always firmly adhered to the One China principle, believing that Taiwan is an integral part of China's territory and supporting China's great cause of reunification. Tanzania is willing to strengthen strategic coordination with China, enhance inter party exchanges and bilateral practical cooperation. Majaleva stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 60 years ago, the cooperative relationship between the two countries has become increasingly close, and the friendship between Tanzania and China is as solid as a rock. The Tanzanian side is willing to work with the Chinese side to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, tourism, and blue economy, and promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between Tanzania and China to achieve more new results.

During the visit, Liu Guozhong went to the Chinese Experts Cemetery for Aid to Tanzania to pay his respects, and inspected the Dar es Salaam Station on the Tanzania Zambia Railway and the Kiquet Institute of Cardiology.
