On the afternoon of October 19, 2023, President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China met with President Sassou of the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), who came to China to attend the Third the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the Congo (Brazzaville) is an active participant and an important partner in the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road". Both sides uphold the Silk Road spirit of peaceful cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit, and have achieved tangible results in promoting friendly cooperation. The successful implementation of projects such as the Congo (Brazzaville) National Highway 1 can be regarded as a model. Zhonggang is a true friend and good partner. China values the friendship between the two countries and is willing to strengthen practical cooperation with Congo within the framework of the "the Belt and Road", the Forum on China Africa Cooperation and other frameworks, explore and cultivate cooperation growth points such as digital economy and green development, and promote China Congo comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level.

Xi Jinping emphasizes that similar concepts, mutual trust, and support are the magic weapons for the stability and development of China Congo relations. Thank you to the Congo side for providing strong support to China on issues related to China's core interests and major concerns. China supports the Congo (Brazzaville) in maintaining national independence and opposing foreign interference, adhering to a development path that is in line with its own national conditions, and supporting the Congo (Brazzaville) in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs. China is willing to work closely with the Congo side in multilateral cooperation to promote the construction of a more just and reasonable international order.

Sassou said that the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" is a great project and provides a new model of inclusive development for the world. The successful outcome of the third the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation reflects the firm support of Congo (Brazzaville) and other participating countries for the the Belt and Road Initiative. China is a major contributor to promoting world economic growth. The Congo side sincerely admires China's great achievements in development and is willing to use the celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year as an opportunity to further promote the development of Congo China relations. The Congo side firmly adheres to the One China policy and looks forward to continuing mutual support with China, strengthening practical cooperation in infrastructure, green energy and other fields, and closely communicating and collaborating under frameworks such as the China Africa Cooperation Forum. The Congo side actively supports the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping , and believes that these important initiatives are conducive to maintaining multilateralism and international fairness and justice.
