Togolese Prime Minister Dobe Meets With Wang Yi

On January 17, 2024 local time, Togolese Prime Minister Dobe met with visiting member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi at a meeting in Lom é.

Dobe expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for consistently providing selfless support in the development process of Togo. Togo firmly adheres to the One China principle and supports China's early realization of national reunification. Togo admires China's remarkable development achievements and hopes to learn from China's beneficial experience, strengthen cooperation in various fields such as poverty alleviation, agriculture, industrial parks, connectivity, digital economy, talent training, environmental protection, etc., create more employment, and achieve inclusive and sustainable growth. Dobe stated that the Forum on China Africa Cooperation has played a crucial role in accelerating Africa's development, and the "nine projects" proposed by President Xi Jinping have greatly benefited Togo. We are willing to work closely with China to prepare for the new session of the forum. Togo supports the series of important global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and is willing to strengthen coordination and implementation. The Sahel region is currently facing challenges to peace and security, and we hope to strengthen security and defense cooperation with China to combat terrorism.

Wang Yi stated that over the past half century, China and Portugal have firmly supported each other on issues related to each other's core interests and major concerns, political mutual trust has been continuously enhanced, and mutually beneficial cooperation has steadily advanced. China will continue to support Togo in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, national security, and national dignity, strengthen comprehensive cooperation with multiple parties, and assist Togo in accelerating its industrialization process.
