On April 20, 2024, National President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Gabonese Transitional President Nguema to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Gabon have a traditional friendship, and the friendship between the two countries has been strengthened over time. For half a century, despite the ever-changing international situation, China and Canada have always treated each other equally and supported each other. Bilateral relations have continuously improved and upgraded, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries.

Nguema stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 50 years ago, Canada and China have shown mutual trust and sincere treatment, maintained stable bilateral relations, and achieved fruitful results in mutually beneficial cooperation in economic, social, and military fields. Canada firmly adheres to the One China principle and believes that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China.
